the TSGA Jamboree 2015

was alright.

… with two large cups of coffee on the side one can endure a lot…

Yes, the paragraph above was a joke, but I think my wife suffered slightly from “steel guitar overload” after a few hours in the concert hall. Her first time at an arrangement this size, so I am not surprised it became a bit too much of a good thing for her. She handled it well throughout the entire weekend though.

This was my fourth visit to the “Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree” in Dallas, so I knew what to expect. Being at these big shows can be tiring indeed, and one has to shut out a lot of distractions in order the get the most out of a visit.

The images above are of course of the artists I found interesting enough to include here. Plenty of other players entered the stage over the four days, and it didn't sound at all bad while I was around.

another show in the book.

A nice long weekend in Dallas to listen to music, meet old friends again, and say “Hello” to some I haven't actually met face to face before. Always nice to shake hands with and talk to people with some of the same interests as I have.

As usual I also picked up some news about what steel builders, and equipment sellers and manufacturers, have been up to lately. Might end up buying some that I have seen and heard demonstrated at this show, one day.

Gunlaug did not “suffer” too much by having to endure it all with me either, although everything that was going on was entirely new and at times somewhat confusing to her.

performance in the Benoit room…

She pretty much sought out what she liked of performances in the various rooms, and stayed there for hours enjoying herself while I checked out what I found interesting in other places. Perfect.

I may not visit all that many of these shows in the years to come. Too much of the same being presented around, and too far to travel. Got to visit a few more if/when I get the chance though, just for the fun of it if nothing else.
